Mixing
It's what I do in life... I started as a DJ when I was twelve, playing for the even smaller kids. Later on I started playing for the big kids and I still do.
Sounds come very easily to me, probably because my eyes don't work very well (I still wear glasses). Other reasons might include that my elder brother was and is a virtuoso pianist and that my father sent me to piano school when I was five.
It took me many, many, many years to understand the essence of mixing, but now I think I got it pretty much under control. It all came together in the mid nineties, when I started using a sampler to create music. I still recommend the same treatment to all my apprentices as a way to understand the procedure of getting two loops in sync.
Being a pro DJ is a little bit trickier than it sounds. Sure we have fun and get drunk while getting paid, but pleasing as many people as possible around you is great art. What are my recommendations? Play for the chicks... If the chicks are on the floor the dudes have no choice but to get up and engage in that mating ritual called dance. I can watch them for hours...
On your right there are numerous mixes and mash-up's. Some of the mixes are pretty outdated but who cares... All the tunes are all at least twenty-five years old anyway... So enjoy yourself and get down!
